She hails from a small remote village Matiakhana under Tinsukia District. With a strong commitment to organic farming and a passion for preserving the environment, she has emerged as a beacon of inspiration for both her community and the wider agricultural sector.
Ms. Jarnali Saikia Hazarika being one of the most active Mahila Kisan of Laipuli GP has been promoted by ASRLM as Krishi Sakhi of Itakhuli Development Block since October, 2018. During the current FY, Ms. Hazarika has raised her own nursery bed of king chillies from which,she has sold the saplings to farmers of neighbouring districts like Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and Dhemaji and able to earn an amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs. She has also earned another amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs from the sale of around 6 quintal of king chillies in the local market.
Ms. Jharnali Saikia took the initiative to establish a vermi compost bed in her own farm. She has been actively involved in promoting organic farming by assisting her fellow mahila kishans in preparation of vermi compost pits. She has been actively participating in the projectsimplemented by USAID, Integrated Farming Cluster & SeSTA. She has been conducting training on composting and mushrooms in coordination with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tinsukia. She has facilitated distribution of seeds of paddy, bottle gourd, and maize to potential Mahila Kisans in association with the agricultural department.
Her dedication and active involvement have encouraged other agri-preneurs to support organic farming and establish agri-nutrition gardens at every household in her locality. Today, she stands as a testament to the potential of sustainable agriculture, holding the prestigious PGSIndia organic certification under the esteemed banner of Qmark International Certifications.
